Nicolas Kyrillou
Nicolas Kyrillou is an artist from Cyprus who lives and works between Nicosia and Paris.
He graduated from the Beaux-Arts de Paris in 2023, after previously completing his studies at the Beaux-Arts de Lyon in 2021 with honours. He has also worked as a teaching assistant at the Beaux-Arts de Paris and as an art teacher in primary schools in Paris.
After completing school in Cyprus, Kyrillou undertook his compulsory military service, where he spent time observing the Buffer Zone, the territory that divides Cyprus in two. This experience became a central starting point for his artistic research and continues to shape the themes of his work.
His work has been exhibited at the Louvre Museum with the Laboratoire Matière Espace of the Beaux-Arts de Paris, as well as at the Centre Wallonie-Bruxelles and the Palais des Études of the Beaux-Arts de Paris.
He recently completed a residency at Casa Wabi Foundation in Mexico, after winning the first collaborative residency between the Nicosia Municipal Arts Centre and Casa Wabi Foundation. He was also selected as one of the winners of the Mennour Emergence Prize and has recently taken part in group exhibitions in Nicosia and Limassol in Cyprus.
