Permanent Exhibition
Presently, the Permanent Exhibition at the Nubuke Centre for Clay and Textiles features works from Cecilia Lamptey Botchway (YGA 2021) and creations that emerged from the British Council Digital Collaboration (BCDC).
The exhibition showcases various textile styles and patterns created by hand-picked master weavers in the towns of Nadowli, Nandom, and Wa. It also includes additional pieces by Michael Jackson Bleboo, and Edward Lamptey. Also featured are chairs woven by students from the school for the blind.
British Council Digital Collaboration
The Centre facilitated a project linking textile designers in the UK and Accra to weavers in Upper West using digital tools. The woven fabrics that were produced from this collaboration form the basis of the Centre’s permanent exhibition. The project was carried out in partnership with Assemble UK and under the British Council Digital Collaboration Grant Programme. The designers were Maria Lisogorskaya, AFROSCOPE (Nana Opoku) and Chrissa Amuah.

Library
The centre currently has a makeshift library which we hope to expand to serve the needs of the community. The collection includes children’s books, art publications as well as fictional and non-fictional work.
At this time, donations in kind or other are welcome to help us expand our collection and build a community literary space.
The Collection
The library collects materials on contemporary art, culture, history, children and young adult fiction, with a special focus on Ghana and the Upper West region. Some of the resources include Woori Festival catalogues, Nubuke Foundation exhibition catalogues as well as audio and video recordings of the Woori Festival. Additional resources contain archives of workshops conducted by the Centre’s partners.
