Google Art and Culture
Digitisation Project (2021)

Dive into a selection of work we’ve been able to develop as part of the Google Art and Culture Digitisation Project.

Google Arts & Culture

Following the launch of GAC’s first Ghanaian partner, Nubuke Foundation and Google Arts & Culture are collaborating to shine light on the country’s past, present, and future of arts and culture by digitising the partners’ ethnic and contemporary art collections. One-half of the project is to digitise ‘the living archives’ of Wa.  Since 2011, the Nubuke Foundation has been working with artisans living in and around Wa in the Upper West region of Ghana. The artisans include women weaver collectives. In collaboration with the Wa community, we seek to bring their indigenous knowledge, craft, and history to a wider audience.
