Simon Bowman Jnr

Simon Bowman 'Jnr.' is an artist redefining the boundaries of photography. Living and working in Accra, he pushes analogue photography beyond its documentary role, transforming it into a medium of abstraction through chemical manipulation, experimental processes, and altered techniques. His practice disrupts conventional image-making, probing the materiality of film and its capacity for distortion, unpredictability, and reinterpretation.
Bowman’s works have been featured in major exhibitions, including Orderly Disorderly (2017) and Cornfields in Accra (2016), both organised by blaxTARLINES KUMASI at the Museum of Science and Technology in Accra. His approach to photography has earned him recognition as a finalist for the Kuenyehia Art Prize (2018) and the CFAO Young Talent Competition (2022).
At WOORI 2025, Bowman extends his exploration of photographic materiality, inviting viewers to reconsider the limits of the image, the medium, and the process of seeing.
