Gideon Hanyame (b. 1996) is a Ghanaian artist currently reading his BFA degree in Painting and Sculpture at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi. He is a member of blaxTARLINES, the project space and contemporary art incubator at the Department of Painting and Sculpture, KNUST. He works with everyday materials such as sieves, water filters, and plant fibres such as pineapple crowns, among others, by transforming them into painterly sometimes see-through soft sculptures. His works are inspired by billboards and writing banners. Hanyame combines techniques such as collage, dyeing, stitching, and loose embroidery in his work. His practice explores labour as a subject matter.
